A history graduate from Emory University in Atlanta, Kari Carlos has worked in the wine and spirits industry since 2004. She began her career as an on-premise sales consultant at National Distributing Company, and today she is a vice president with the company and a member of its Next-Gen Leadership team working on special projects. Kari Carlos is dedicated to serving as a board member for charities and foundations such as the Atlanta-based Andee's Army Youth Brain and Spinal Cord Foundation.
Andee's Army is a nonprofit organization focused on helping children and adolescents recover and rehabilitate from sustained brain and spinal cord injuries. Through programs and special initiatives funded by the community, Andee's Army creates solutions for these young people - one example is the patient assistance grant program, which was first established in 2013.
The foundation's patient assistance grant program supports these children and their families financially, helping with costs associated with their recovery such as physical, occupational, and speech therapies, home health aid, equipment, assistive technology, and specialized care. Any youth or young adult whose acquired brain or spinal cord injury occurred before their 23rd birthday and is seeking financial assistance can apply to Andee's Army grant program.
Other programs offered by Andee's Army include the annually funded Comfort & Care program at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, and the patient outing program Andee's Adventures at Shepherd Center. Anyone can help the foundation by donating at www.andeesarmy.org.
